The Busy Bees and Dragons (Ages 4-5)

The Dragon and Busy Bee classrooms are both our Pre-K classrooms. Both classrooms spend the school year focusing on kindergarten readiness. There are different teaching styles from classroom to class room. However, the educational materials and expectations are the same in both classrooms. We assess all Pre-K students after the first of the year to see where they need support and where their strengths lie. Our teachers pay close attention to the children who need to move at a different pace, and create developmental appropriate activities for both. Our activities are designed to incorporate lessons in phonics, letter and number recognition, serration, printing, word recognition and science. All of these skills are introduced and practiced via play, art, music, movement and literature. All teachers have been trained in the Handwriting without Tears program specifically designed for Pre-K students.

Assessments

All classrooms provide individualized assessments in October and May. These assessments review each child's social, emotional, and cognitive development. These assessments help us stay on top of each child's individual needs and milestones.
